Andrea Mitchell

Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is a American TV reporter, journalist anchor and commentator for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from University of Pennsylvania. In the year 1967, Mitchell began her career as a reporter with KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. She became a reporter for the CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV, (then WTOP), situated in Washington DC. Then, she became a Washington general reporter with NBC News two years later. In 1980, she began covering the White House. 1988 became the principal journalist for Congress. She was promoted to Chief White House correspondent in 1992 as well as chief foreign reporter of NBC News in 1994. Mitchell was a panelist, as well as presenter of the TV show Meet the Press. Mitchell was a panelist during the 1988 presidential debates with George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell was married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism for the John F. Kennedy School of Government. And in 2004, Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) recognized Mitchell for her contribution to the cause of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began covering for the White House in 1981-1988, both during Ronald Reagan's presidency. Mitchell has reported on a variety of notable reports over the years, including fiscal reform, the budget as well as the Iran Contra scandal. She traveled frequently with Reagan as well as Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
